SuperStar Libra 4D3N Phuket/Krabi Cruise: Krabi, Gala Dinner Day 3 of 4

Passengers have a choice of meals at designated F&B outlets and for breakfast, you can choose from Mariner’s Buffet, a Chinese set breakfast at Ocean Palace or a Western set at Four Seasons. We had a quick breakkie at Four Seasons before getting ready for our next shore trip to Krabi!

Look at the insanely blue waters of Krabi!

No need for tuk-tuk yet, we pampered passengers got onto our 40-seater express bus to commence our tour of Krabi.

Our first must-see area was the Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tam Seua), considered by Krabi Buddhists to be one of the most sacred sites in the province.

Such as scenic place to stroll, amid the mysterious carvings, a Guanyin pagoda temple, and with the wind soughing through the leaves in the jungle. Those who have the stamina, or the devotion, may choose a day or more, to try to climb the 1272 steps up to the limestone tower. Not only are you rewarded with a 360 degree view of the sea and beautiful limestone cliffs, but you will also see a replica of a ‘footprint of Buddha’.

A tip? Check out the unassuming but affordable grocery shop with good buys…

Krabi is known for its limestone formations, and we were bussed to one of the most famous landmarks - Khao Khanab Nam. These majestic twin natural wonders are the gateway, on either side of the river that flows into Krabi city.

Next, we visit Jee-Or shop, where you can try the famed Krabi Cake and desserts. It’s also another shopping stop to pick up treats and snacks if you missed it in Phuket.

Krabi is definitely more laidback than Phuket, but it has its pluses. Those with more time can choose extended trips to Phi Phi Island or take a long-tailed boat ride. For us, we were content with strolling on Ao Nang Beach promenade and dining at a fresh seafood café.

We had an early return to the ship, as we wanted to look our best for the Gala Dinner! And it seems most of the passengers had the same idea. When the finishing touches were done and we stepped out, the cruise friends we had known over the past few days were transformed – shorts and slippers gave way to glamourous dresses, make-up and spiffy hairdos. It was going to be a night of glamour!

We headed to Stardust Lounge to catch the Pre-Gala Dinner Party. The ship’s top crew from the Staff Captain to the Entertainment Director made an appearance, to the applause of everyone!

It was a leisurely time with jazzy tunes and dancing still going on. Soon, we made our way to Four Seasons Restaurant for a 3-course gala dinner. Lucky patrons may even share the table with the captain and first officers. The waiters kept up the lively mood with a pre-dinner song and dance; talk about dinner and good service!

“Do you think we’re going to sleep tonight?” asked my table mate.

“I don’t think so…” I replied as we applauded the final performance by the host and waiters.

According to the Star Navigator, there was a discount at Ports O’Call tonight and we didn’t need reminding. We made a beeline to the onboard shop after dinner. There was a bit of jostling, (discount madness), but we managed to purchase some cute keepsakes that were on sale. :D

Photography was not allowed during the night shows, but we were thoroughly entertained. Veterans now at the ship’s layout, we were early and got a good seat for Darcy Oakes Master Illusionist performance. His signature acts got as much applause and laughs as his tongue-in-cheek commentary.

Just as a housekeeping personnel’s remark to ‘just enjoy your stay!’, they pulled out all the stops to make the passengers’ final night onboard unfold with utmost fun.

The Fiesta De Libra Farewell Party was just starting on Pool Deck, and guests were all entertained with a non-stop dance performance by the show band and the Happy Crew. Soon too, everyone let down their hair as we joined the Cruise Entertainment Team and Hotel Reps to dance away.

A BBQ dinner was also prepared as we all partied the night. The sea-air certainly works up an appetite and we all dug into scrumptious meats, pastas, desserts and more! And…afraid we would be famished by midnight, a last buffet is also prepared for guests and closes only at 1.30am.

Hmm, I think if passengers could boogie as long as the crew could, we definitely would be able to dance away the extra pounds gained and stay as fit!

Another cloudless night on a utopian landscape of moonlit sea…a perfect memory for your cruise!
